Please join us this weekend in welcoming back one of our favorite wine educators- Chas Boynton from Arborway Wine Distributors. Chaz and Richard will be pouring 4 wines from Umbrian wine producer, Antonelli and a Groppolo from Il Monticello in Liguria, Tuscany.
Located in the Umbrian hills in Montefalco, the ancient estate, now operated by the Antonellis, is mentioned in several medieval documents, as one of the territories most suited for the cultivation of vines and olives.
From the 13th to the 19th century the property belonged to the bishopric of Spoleto. In fact, the current boundaries are practically the same as those described in a 13th century document currently preserved in the Bishop’s Archive.
In 1881 the estate was bought by Francesco Antonelli, from Spoleto. He began a radical work of transformation and modernization of the planting and the farming.
The wines are produced exclusively from the estate’s organically grown grapes.
