Xavier Cedó harvests the Carignane and Garnacha grapes for this wine amongst olive and cherry trees in Montsant, Catalunya. The winery is located in La Serra d’Almos where respectful viticulture is practiced. The wine takes the name of the vineyard where it hails and means, “Flat Stone”, after the shape of the property The wine is complex and fuller-bodied with concentrated fruit and baking spice notes obtained from six months in French & American oak.

This sensational, full-bodied, Northern Rhône Valley-like Spanish red exhibits meaty/lard notes, terrific density and purity, and a finish that lasts nearly 40 seconds. It should drink nicely for a decade or more. This large estate in Toro is owned by the Eguren family, who also owns the Dominio de Eguren winery. This value-priced cuvées, primarily fashioned from old vines planted between 1880 and 1999, is from head-pruned vines and represent impressive quality.
