Celler del Roure Cullerot Blanco 2016

When Pablo Calatayud founded his winery near Valencia he discovered a cellar full of 17th century clay amphorae and decided to resurrect this ancient practice of aging. His other passion is to use local, native grape varieties as much as possible. For his “Cullerot” (which means tadpole) he blends 30% Verdil, 30% Pedro Ximenez, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Macabeo from vines that range in age from 10 to 70 years old. He presses whole clusters, uses natural yeast, and then ages them in amphorae for 6 months. The wine is a study in contrasts. It’s full of rich satiny fruit (ripe round pears and clementines) yet has a cool steely edge. He may use ancient methods but the wine feels so fresh and new. Pairs well with sashimi, ceviche and salads

Herencia Altes Benufet Garnacha Blanca 2015

The intriguing nose of the 2015 Benufet is already developing a petrol-like note combined with the meaty white fruit Garnacha Blanca is able to achieve, especially from extremely old vines like this. There is also a faint peachy pit note. The palate is very tasty, it makes you salivate.

Creta Roble Ribera del Duero 2016

Winemaker Notes:

Creta is made at Bodegas Neo located near the village of La Horra. The grapes are picked by hand and transported a short distance to the cellar where they are sorted and destemmed. Fermentation is done in tank and the wine ages for 4-5 months in a combination of French and American oak.

Terroir Historic Negre Priorat 2016

The Negra from Terroir Historic will always be a Garnatxa-dominated blend with Carinyena playing a secondary role. Garnatxa makes for a friendlier young wine, and that is really the goal with this cuvée. With a healthy dose of Garnatxa grown high in the Montsant and on clay-limestone soils, the profile of the Negra is lifted and enticing, floral and decided in the red-fruit spectrum. The remainder of the fruit comes from Garnatxa and Carinyena grown on schist which provides freshness and minerality.
